Sydney New Year’s Eve is one of the busiest nights in Sydney CBD, and major road closures will affect how you get into and around the city. If you’re planning to drive, it’s important to know when roads close and which DIVVY car parks are affected.
Key Road Closures – NYE 2025/26
Roads across the city will shut down throughout the day on 31 December:
- Cahill Expressway: closed from 6am
- Circular Quay & The Rocks: closures from 2pm
- Sydney CBD: major closures from 5pm, most roads closed by 7pm
- Harbour Bridge: closed 11pm–1:30am
Once these closures begin, many car parks will not be accessible — even if you have a booking. You can find the full list of road closures here.

- 1 Margaret Street – Road closure from 10pm, 31 December 2025 – 4am, 1 January 2026.
- 168 Clarence Street – Road closure from 10pm, 31 December 2025 – 4am, 1 January 2026.
- 255 Clarence Street – Road closure from 10pm, 31 December 2025 – 4am, 1 January 2026.
- 45 Clarence Street – Road closure from 10pm, 31 December 2025 – 4am, 1 January 2026.
North Sydney
- 124 Walker Street – Road closure from 5pm, 31 December 2025 – 3am, 1 January 2026.
- 118 Walker Street – Road closure from 5pm, 31 December 2025 – 3am, 1 January 2026.
- 56 Berry Street – Road closure from 1pm, 31 December 2025 – 3am, 1 January 2026.
- 273 Alfred Street N – Road closure from 1pm, 31 December 2025 – 3am, 1 January 2026.
Special event clearways will be in place across the CBD, Darling Harbour, The Rocks, North Sydney and nearby suburbs.
